Rich selections of computing instances

We support almost all mainstream operating systems, from Linux, Windows. There are more than 500 types and sizes of computing instances. For different workloads, we have different instance types such as general-purpose, compute optimized and memory optimized; We also provide bare metal instances and configure different storage and network performance for different types of instances.

Rich selection of processor and architecture choices

We provide a variety of processor architecture choices, from x86 to Arm architecture. Amazon Graviton processors are designed by Amazon Web Services to deliver the high price performance. For computing intensive workloads, we provide a rich selection of cloud accelerators. We have introduced the INF1 accelerated computing instances for inference, which is a very economic computing instance for the machine learning development and inference.

Security is built into the foundation with the Amazon Nitro System

The Amazon Nitro System is the underlying platform for our next generation of EC2 instances that to further reduce cost for our customers, and deliver added benefits like increased security. With the Nitro System, we are able to break apart those functions, offload them to dedicated hardware and software, and reduce costs by delivering practically all of the resources of a server to your instances.

Optimize costs through flexible and diverse purchase options

We provide three cost optimization options:
1) use spot instances to scale flexible and fault-tolerant workloads.
2) Use on-demand instances to scale new or stateful peak workloads.
3) Use reserved instances for known and stable workloads
